Consulted Law firm 2020-2025Laura is a fantastic attorney who has responded in a timely manner several times over the years I have needed her. She always gives me an honest answer even when it might be hard to hear. I am thankful she is in my corner!!! Thank you Laura for always being there when I need you.

Hired Law firm 2020-2021My ex hired an attorney and said he was going to take everything and keep the children from me. I talked to and hired Laura and she was able to get me everything i wanted and my ex only got standard visitation. She did an amazing job for me. She is worth every penny.

Hired Law firm 2018-2019Mrs. Carpenter handled my divorce she did a great job and was worth every penny. It did take a long time but she said it was because Covid had backed up the courts. I would use her again and would recommend her for anyone getting a divorce

Hired Law firm 2018-2019Passed around over and over. Told the same story to 9 different paralegals. She never accomplished the job so no, I don't recommend this firm.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
