Overview

R. Gaines Griffin is Co-Senior Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is Head of the Firm's Litigation Section. He was educated at the University of Texas (BA, 1968, JD, 1971) and was a member of Phi Delta Phi honorary legal fraternity. He was admitted to the Texas bar in 1972 and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the Western, Southern and Northern Districts of Texas. Mr. Griffin is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The Bar Association of the Federal Fifth Circuit, the American Bar Association and the San Antonio Bar Association.

Mr. Griffin initially served as an Assistant District and County Attorney after graduation from the University of Texas School of Law. Mr. Griffin entered the private practice of law in 1974 and, since that time, has practiced extensively in general civil litigation, including complex construction cases and multi-party and international commercial litigation. Mr. Griffin also regularly represents business owners before state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal court in labor and employment disputes.

Mr. Griffin has also represented municipalities, schools and their elected and appointed officials in tort litigation involving areas such as civil rights claims, construction claims and employment litigation. His courtroom experience includes the representation of public bodies in both federal and state court.
