Hired Law firm 2023-2024I had George Ruiz as my attorney for nearly a year and only spoke to him once, never meeting him in person. A week before mediation, I requested a meeting but was told it wasn’t necessary. This left me anxious and unprepared. I eventually sought new counsel, who informed me that important tasks like Discovery and necessary filings were completely neglected. Diane was great—thanks, Diane! :) The one star is for you!

Hired Law firm 2021-2022Last year, I was once again faced with a difficult custody battle for my son. Having worked with a couple of different lawyers in the past, who charged tens of thousands of dollars, with no positive result, i was quite hesitant to try again. I reached out to George and Candy, and they were sympathetic and attentive. Their entire process was a breath of fresh air. Quick, decisive, painless, and thorough. Long story short, in record time and for much less than I had been charged in the past, I finally obtained custody of my son. I highly recommend them for anyone facing any type of family law scenario.

George, Candy, Tony and team, many blessings to all of you.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
