Attorney Information

Overview

Ling is a Partner at GKBK with extensive experience in complex civil litigation, including personal injury, product liability, insurance, real estate, commercial disputes, and civil appeals. She is a dedicated advocate who counsels clients on sophisticated legal issues at both trial and appellate levels, consistently delivering strong results in trials before judges and juries in federal and state courts, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution.

Ling is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and is admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She is also a certified mediator and court-appointed ad litem in the State of Texas.

Prior to private practice, Ling served as a judicial law clerk to a Harris County District Judge for several years, an experience that deepened her understanding of the judiciary and sharpened her litigation instincts. Courts have since appointed her to serve as guardian ad litem in personal injury cases and probate proceedings, protecting the best interest of minor children and the elderly.

Throughout her career, Ling has represented both domestic and international clients — including individuals and corporate entities — across a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, engineering, technology, real estate, construction, and medicine. Her courtroom experience spans trials before judges and juries in federal and state courts, where she has demonstrated the ability to try cases to verdict and navigate the distinct demands of each forum with skill and confidence.

With a deep command of personal injury and product liability law, Ling has litigated a wide range of matters, including motor vehicle accidents, trucking and commercial vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, premises liability, construction accidents, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and defective product claims. She brings a nuanced understanding in liability, damage, and trial strategy to every case she handles.

Ling is equally well versed in complex commercial litigation. She previously served as Senior Litigation Counsel at a boutique business litigation firm, where she handled commercial and business disputes, real estate matters, corporate governance and fiduciary litigation. Prior to joining GKBK, she served as Senior Associate Attorney at a Houston firm, representing clients in premises liability, personal injury, real estate transactions, and eminent domain proceedings.

At GKBK, Ling is committed to delivering the same level of dedication and depth of experience to her clients in commercial litigation, personal injury, product liability, oil and gas, real estate, eminent domain, construction, and insurance law.

Ling earned her B.A. in English from Yantai Normal University and pursued graduate studies in Applied Linguistics before obtaining her J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston. A native of China, Ling proudly calls Tomball home. She is deeply committed to her community and actively supports charitable and civic initiatives. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
