Michelle M. AndrePont is currently licensed in both Louisiana and Texas. Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Management (concentration in finance) from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business in 1989 and her Juris Doctorate from Tulane University’s School of Law in 1992. She was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar on October 16, 1992 and has practiced in Louisiana since that time. Michelle began her practice with a private firm handing criminal defense, employment discrimination, and civil rights cases. In October 1994, Michelle joined the Caddo Parish District Public Defender Office and remained there full-time until December 1997.
From January 1998 to July 1999, Michelle opened her own office and worked as a contract public defender. On July 1, 1999, she returned to full-time employment with the Public Defender Office handling misdemeanors and felonies, up to and including capital cases. During her teno with Caddo Parish District Defender’s office, Michelle served as the Caddo Parish District Public Defender from February 2020 until June 2025. Michelle is dedicated to fighting for the best results for all her clients.
When not working, Michelle enjoys spending time with her fur babies, her family, and her friends. She is very active in her church community and enjoys singing in the praise band. She also enjoys two book clubs, running, camping, golfing, fishing, junking, and crafting.
