Consulted Law firm 2024Met with the junior associate twice about my father's will and trust. He wanted a very large retainer up front and said they would work with me on the cost of my legal fees if I exhausted that large retainer. I spent several weeks coming up with their fee. I guess he didn't believe I would be able to continue to pay them beyond the retainer because he still wouldn't take my case - I'm on disability. Suddenly he thought the cost of my problem could be four times what he initially said. I don't expect them to know the future but it was odd that his assessment changed so drastically. In our initial meetings, he had made me believe that they were ready/willing to take my case if I could pay the retainer and suddenly, they weren't. I feel like they strung me along instead of being honest at the beginning that they didn't want me as a client. Now I have to start over looking for an attorney, which sets me back, time-wise, in regards to my lawsuit. Overall, I came away feeling like they weren't very honest with me.

Hired Law firm 2023I hired Sam for criminal defense not knowing what to expect. Hands down the best attorney I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Very knowledgeable in many aspects of the Utah laws and gets results. I highly recommend Sam Goble and wouldn't hesitate to hire him if I was on any jam. Thank you Sam!

Hired Law firm 2020I hired and fired this firm in 2020. I would've fired lawyer Sam Goble sooner had I known how poorly he was representing me. He negligently kept me in the dark not copying me on communications with opposing counsel. Sam Goble failed to properly subpoena important documents and put-off doing important legal work thereby mismanaging my dear mother's probate matter. Sam Goble's negligence caused me to lose my entire inheritance to disinherited-by-name "interested parties". It was a Kangaroo Court at First District Court with the judge yelling at Sam Goble and then me too. I was characterized as a criminal. Insane! Sam Goble failed to do the work he was directed to do to protect my interests and my mother's estate interests. He failed magnificently and squandered my retainer funds and my entire inheritance and my dear mother's legally prepared legacy. I was sole heir; but disinherited-by-name offspring were awarded her entire estate. Outrageous. I've filed a formal Bar Complaint against Sam Goble and my JCC Complaint against ranting judge Willmore is forthcoming. I do not recommend this law firm, or Sam Goble. Beware. Signed, Chrystina Taylor-Bird RIP Mom <3

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
