Hired Law firm 2011-2013We were in big trouble with our credit cards. We used them to finish a big business construction project (100K worth). And then.... The credit companies kept raising our rates until they hit the max Utah would allow. And we had never missed a payment or not paid at least the minimum required. The end result, none of the credit companies would work with us because we had been so good at making our payments. In fact, a couple of them said they would not work with us until we showed a need to - meaning, miss a couple payments. I would say, 'Fine, I'm letting you know that I won't be paying'. Don't do that! You'll ruin your credit scores! Like that wasn't already happening. The minimum payment due did not even cover the accruing interest. I bet we had paid over three times what we ever borrowed on the cards. So, I called the office of Constantino and they immediately went to work. It was a torturous couple years. We couldn't answer our phones and we couldn't muster up the courage to even open our mail for days. I have no idea how low our credit score dropped. I never even looked. We did pay our mortgage and utilities and survived okay. In all, I believe it took us three years. In the end, we never filed bankruptcy and we settled our debts without the penalties usually associated with bankruptcy. In just a few years after this major and stressful ordeal, our credit scores began to be respectable again. We are currently bouncing between 750 and 825 due to the many hard hits I take investing in real estate. We pay our cards off every month. Life is so much better now. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for the work this law office did for us.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
