In her 10-plus years in the family law field, Kara has litigated, mediated and settled cases dealing with a variety of complex issues, including adultery, divorce, spousal support, same-sex divorce, child custody, marital settlement agreements, relocation, military divorce, high asset divorce, contempt and other post-divorce issues, modifications and terminations of support, spousal support, child support and equitable distribution of marital property.
For more than a decade Kara Lee has devoted herself to helping individuals who are dealing with family law issues. Her commitment to family law began in law school where she studied various aspects of family law litigation, working almost full time at a top tier family law firm while attending law school full time.
After graduating from law school, Kara began practicing law with a boutique and well-respected firm in Northern Virginia. Within only 5 years of practice, she became a partner thanks to her tireless efforts and dedication to helping her clients, and her excellent legal work. Kara’s achievements in the field of family law have been recognized in many forms, including by Virginia Super Lawyers, Virginia Business Magazine, US News & World Report among other sources within the legal community.
Kara started Lee Lopez Law PLLC so that she and Misha could fulfill their vision of ideal legal representation for clients. Kara’s vision is to combine her experience in family law litigation with her efficient handling of cases and compassion for her clients. She understands that each of these virtues – experience, efficiency, and compassion – play important roles in each client’s case.
Clients who entrust Kara with their case can expect to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion regardless of their situation. Clients can also expect to hear honest, frank advice about the legal issues. Kara uses her experience and researching abilities to quickly find relevant law, explain it to clients, plan a course of action, and make the best arguments under the circumstances. And while the truth is hard to hear sometimes, Kara always comes prepared with a plan to address even the toughest legal issues in a way that gives her client’s the best chance at the most favorable outcome.
Kara is heavily involved in the local legal community of Northern Virginia. She has served in numerous roles within the Fairfax Bar Association, even sitting on the Board of Directors for the Fairfax Bar Association. She also regularly attends functions in a variety of jurisdictions (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax chief among them) and presentations relevant to divorce, custody, and support litigation. This involvement gives her additional insight about judges’ thinking and successful legal positions within the family law world.
