Dr. Jeffrey A. Shane is a distinguished physician and attorney specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. He also has extensive experience in medical malpractice law. Dr. Shane received his MD from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1968, and performed his residency subsequently form 1969 to 1973. He completed his residency at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and has been board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology, as well as medical law. Dr Shane has worked with Weiner, Spivey and Miller PLC for several years as a medical-legal consultant.

Dr. Shane is also a former service member. He is a retired Colonel from the United States Air Force, serving various military and academic positions, these included faculty roles at multiple universities. He has published extensively on topics ranging from the medical-legal ramifications of difficult labor and delivery to guidelines for obstetricians facing malpractice crises. His notable works include “The Female Reproductive System – An Overview” in the Lawyers’ Medical Journal and “How Prenatal Genetic Testing Protects Patients – And You” in OBG management.

He has delivered over 100 presentations focusing on patient safety, quality assurance, and several other topics in the medical-legal field. His presentations included “Mitigating Legal Risks in Obstetric Practice”, and “Quality Assurance in Obstetrics: Best Practices”. He is currently working as a consultant specializing in patient safety and risk management, while contributing as a Fellow for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as the American College of Legal Medicine. He has had significant impact in the field of law and medicine throughout his career and has continued to play an active role in the medical-legal community.
