Overview

Jillian Lewis’ tenure in the legal profession began in 2014. Civil litigation has been the heart of her practice with an emphasis on contract disputes and real estate. Her advanced knowledge and skill, along with her dedication to the concerns of a wide variety of clients, has earned her the sort of praise which is normally reserved for practitioners who have devoted many more years to the profession. Her colleagues who have had the opportunity to work with Ms. Lewis praise her for her ability to grasp complicated details while advancing sophisticated strategies for the short-term and long-term advancement of the client’s goals.

Ms. Lewis joined the firm in 2020 as an associate practicing family law. During law school, she was a legal intern for the Children and Youth Law Clinic, a judicial intern with the Honorable Jacqueline Hogan Scola in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, and a law clerk at Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli, and DiMatteo. After graduating from law school and upon admission to the Florida bar, Ms. Lewis continued with Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli, and DiMatteo primarily practicing in the area of insurance defense. Thereafter, she joined a law firm in Washington, D.C. practicing landlord and tenant law.

Ms. Lewis was raised in New Hampshire, completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, and graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. She resides in Fairfax County with her husband and two sons. Ms. Lewis is a member of the bar in Virginia, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
