Overview

G. Price Koch has continually fought in the court since 2006 helping people with criminal and family law issues. He received his law degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 2005, having previously graduated from New York University in 1998. Jumping right into the fray, Price conducted numerous jury trials with good results as an attorney for the Office of the Public Defender in Fredericksburg. Shortly into his stint as a public defender, he was recruited to the firm that would later bear his name. Price’s continued success kept him busy representing a number of individuals charged with computer crimes and sex crimes, many of whom he represented to jury verdict. As his litigation experience grew he began helping clients with their custody and visitation hearings. This blossomed into a full-blown family law practice because he wanted to better serve his clients. Many times criminal case can have family law aspect and he wanted provide a full service.

Mr. Koch has a deep and long-time commitment to serve the community he is a member. This most notably began in college when he volunteered and was accepted to the AmeriCorp Project SafetyNet to work in the public Seward Park High School in the Lower Eastside of New York City. Since that two-year commitment with AmeriCorps, Mr. Koch has found various ways to give back to the community. It is this same commitment that he has given to each of his clients from his work at the Public Defender's Office to his private clients.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
