Attorney Information

Overview

Daniel deLalla is a trial attorney with deep roots in the Tidewater area. Honing his skills in courtrooms across Hampton Roads for over a decade, Dan has successfully represented hundreds of personal injury clients in complex, serious cases, including car and truck accidents and medical malpractice.

Daniel began his legal career as an intern at Rutter Mills LLP. In that opportunity, he learned about maritime and personal injury law. It was then Dan found a life-long mentor and friend in Brother Rutter. deLalla went on to graduate law school and served as a criminal defense attorney and an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Virginia Beach and Portsmouth.

When an opportunity to return to Rutter Mills LLP as a personal injury lawyer came available, Dan jumped at the chance to come back to work with some of the top legal minds in Hampton Roads. He brings the same conviction and assurance he gained as a prosecutor of criminal cases to his personal injury cases. For Dan, it’s not just about winning. It’s about “righting a wrong.”

Daniel has argued in: General District court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, and Circuit Court. He has represented clients in federal, civil, and criminal matters adjudicated in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. His focus with personal injury law includes car accidents, trucking accidents, dog bites, slip and fall cases, and medical malpractice.

deLalla feels honored his clients put their trust in him during their time of need. He takes that charge seriously. For Dan, winning means helping someone get their life back. His passion for justice and his compassionate nature with clients have earned him top honors among his peers.

One of Mr. deLalla’s clients recently stated: “I had an auto accident… and there were two other cars involved. Both of the insurance companies were pushing off responsibility on the other, and one flat out told me ‘We are not paying anything.’… Attorney DeLalla took over when the insurance companies came in with a lowball offer that didn’t even cover the medical bills. He got the job done quickly and got the insurance companies to more than triple their original offer. This by far was not a huge case, or a massive payout for Rutter Mills LLP, but they treated my case like it was just as important.”
