Richmond Family Law Lawyer
Overview
Sandy Bowen, a founding partner at Bowen, Ten, Long, & Bal, PC, has concentrated her practice on family law and representing families in separation and divorce since 1988. She brings years of professional experience and her extensive network of resources to each client's case. Sandy assists her clients in achieving their goals while respecting their dignity and resources.
Sandy's personal experience with divorce when her daughter was 4 years old has provided her with an added level of sensitivity to her family law clients' needs. Sandy has a special appreciation for just how personal the divorce experience is for her clients and the long-term impact the divorce litigation process can have on family relationships. It is important to her that clients receive good value for the money they spend on legal representation. Sandy recognizes that family law litigation can be a frustrating and expensive experience. She helps prepare and guide her clients through this difficult time with care and discretion.
Sandy begins her work with each client by identifying their goals. She informs her clients about the court process, educates them about the law, and assists them in identifying the factual evidence that is necessary to put the best case before the court should a settlement not be reached.
Sandy knows it is important to educate clients about the legal process and help them understand what they can realistically expect when the court system is involved in deciding what is best for their children and finances. This education is crucial to ensuring that clients receive good value for the money they spend on legal representation.
Sandy was a founding partner at Bowen, Champlin, Foreman & Rockecharlie in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and managed that firm from 1997 to 2006. From 2006 until February 2014, she was with Coates & Davenport, P.C. in Richmond. This experience supports her practice of representing all parties in divorce litigation involving complex financial issues.
Sandy is from Arlington County. She graduated from the University of Virginia and later earned her law degree from the TC Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. Sandy is a member of several professional organizations, including the Virginia State Bar, the Chesterfield County Bar Association, the Henrico County Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar Association, and the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association, where she has previously held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. She is admitted to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and federal courts, including the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Sandy takes great pride in her family, which includes two grown children. She has been actively involved in various school and community organizations, often serving on their Board of Directors. Additionally, Sandy has volunteered for many years with the Virginia Bar Association, helping staff Central Virginia Legal Aid's Hot Line with volunteer attorneys.
