Andrew Pahl handled a case for my family defending the claim of a prescriptive easement across our property. Although the easement was ultimately granted, he was able to minimize the impact to our property and generate the best outcome possible under the circumstances. He was excellent to work with, communicated regularly and represented us well. I was especially appreciative of his ability to explain complex legal concepts in a way that I could easily understand in order to make an informed decision. I would definitely want to work with him again if we had a need in the future!

Jeff Patton and Kim Dean helped my brother and I with my fathers' will, caregivers exception paperwork and the changing of the deed of my home. They both never missed a beat, they answered all questions and kept us at ease. Mr. Patton even came to our home, after hours, and spoke directly to my father, who was under hospice care, and put him at ease and helped through the paperwork. Mr.Patton and Kim make quite a team and never one time did they not help me and my brother no matter the question or concern. Hands down the best Elder Law Attorney in the area.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
