    Hired Law firm 2024
I was represented by an attorney called Cameron Deweirdt in Lotzkar office at the beginning and he was the worst attorney I ever had! Had him to represent me in a criminal hearing as a public defender. Was hardly available, never kept any of the promises he made, on one hearing I ended up with a random attorney attending without telling me who I found later to be Mr. Lotzkar himself! Mr. Lotzkar not only almost knew nothing about my case to the extent that the ADA was telling a lot of misinformation to the court and when I tried to correct them, he shut me down. He also didn't give a damn at all to even consult with me or get some time from the court to understand my requests, it was like I didn't even matter at all!! I ended up firing him but that didn’t stop him from representing me in the following hearing against my wishes and got me a bench warrant!! He SHOULD NOT be allowed to practice law at all!!

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
