Seattle Mesothelioma Lawyer

Overview

Born in Los Angeles but raised in Bellevue, Washington, Alex has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. She received her B.A. in Law, Societies, and Justice from University of Washington and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, where she was Notes & Comments Executive Editor of Seattle University Law Review, and earned CALI Excellence for the Future awards in Insurance Law, Elder Law, and Employment Discrimination Law for being top of her class.

Before joining Weinstein Caggiano, Alex worked as a legal assistant at DuBois Cary Family Law Group in Seattle. She was also a legal intern for the Northwest Justice Project where she researched legal issues, assisted attorneys with administrative hearings, drafted letters and compiled evidence to review denials of public housing.

Over the past seven years, Alex has climbed the ranks at Weinstein Caggiano from a summer intern to partner of the firm—a testament to how much she loves her job. During those years, she found her passion for advocacy as a lawyer in fighting for the clients she serves. She brings a life-long enthusiasm for public service to her job here and is proud of the work she does to help her clients—families—going through tremendous loss.

One of her greatest accomplishments at work happened this past year when Alex was serving as co-first chair in a three week trial that ended just five days after her 32nd birthday. “The long hours and no sleep were 100% worth it when we heard the jury’s $13 million verdict come in for our client. I couldn’t keep myself from crying tears of joy as the clerk read the jury form because I was so happy, proud, and emotionally exhausted in that moment about what we had done.”

"Mesothelioma is a truly terrible disease that no one can ever be ready for. The individuals and families who are affected don’t deserve any of the pain that this brings. It is my great joy to get to know the wonderful husbands, wives, parents, and children that I work with and fight for. It is an outrageously unjust price to pay for working hard all your life for employers and using product brands in whom you placed your trust. The biggest tragedy is that it’s a preventable disease. If my clients had ever been warned, they could have protected themselves. But they never were. Helping our clients achieve some measure of justice and fair compensation for the suffering that they and their families have endured is what keeps me motivated to work every day."

When she's not practicing law, Alex stays busy hiking around the Pacific Northwest, trying out new recipes (mostly cookies) in the kitchen, and teaching her adopted dog Harper new tricks. She looks forward to the day that she can safely visit friends and family and continue traveling the world again too.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
