Attorney Information

Overview

My practice is exclusively focused on providing general counsel legal advice and services to condominium and homeowner associations in Washington. I advise on all aspects of governance, interacting and contracting with third parties, and interpreting, amending and enforcing governing documents such as condominium declarations, CC&Rs, bylaws, articles and rules and regulations.

I fully appreciate that board members are also homeowners, and volunteers, many with jobs and other time-consuming personal commitments of their own. Because of this, I am committed to providing useful, effective advice focused on helping boards act in the best interests of the association. I enjoy working with board members of all experience levels and providing advice that is responsive, while at the same time educational.

At Peryea Silver Taylor, we proudly support the work and services provided by our industry trade group, the Washington Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. My partners and I have served on a variety of committees, and are frequent speakers and presenters on a wide range of community association legal topics at numerous WSCAI annual events and seminars. In fact, in 2019, our firm was awarded WSCAI Business Partner of the Year!

I have assisted numerous clients through the major repair process--from reviewing and amending their governing documents in preparation for a project, to reviewing the loan documents and construction contracts, to speaking at the "big" special meeting to address owner concerns.

When not working, I enjoy mountain biking, skiing, golf, music and family time.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
