James Jay Stratton practices immigration law at Stratton Immigration, PLLC located in Seattle, Washington, and he represents clients throughout the state. Mr. Stratton's education specifically supports the mission of this bilingual legal firm that offers services in English and Spanish. A graduate of the University of Utah, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in Latin American studies.

Mr. Stratton then went on to pursue his legal education at what is now known as Mitchell Hamline School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2009. While in law school, he served a clerkship with the Executive Office for Immigration Review in Bloomington, Minnesota, a part of the U.S. Department of Justice that oversees the United States immigration court system. Mr. Stratton was also a law clerk with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, where he worked on its immigration law project.

After graduation, Mr. Stratton worked for Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice, a pro bono legal representation project that provides free legal assistance to detained immigrants who are seeking asylum or otherwise attempting to avoid deportation. Admitted to practice in Washington, Mr. Stratton started his own firm in November 2010.

Mr. Stratton applies his knowledge of the political and cultural landscape affecting people struggling with immigration issues to developing legal strategies that support their aspirations. He believes strongly in defending families whose members face deportation. Mr. Stratton continually monitors changes in immigration law to strengthen his ability to protect the rights of his clients. His membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association provides him with access to a knowledgeable network of attorneys who advocate for people nationwide.
