Attorney Information
Overview
Allison Farrell is an experienced litigator with an emphasis on oil, gas, and coal in the Appalachian basin.
Having handled hundreds of energy-related cases, Allison understands the risks and benefits of litigation to her clients and works with them closely in an effort to efficiently achieve their goals. Allison works closely with title attorneys on matters related to lease acquisition, quiet title disputes, disagreements over royalty payments, and trespass claims, among other actions. Allison also has experience handling general civil defense and has defended personal injury and medical malpractice claims. Additionally, Allison has counseled clients through innumerable mediations and negotiated settlements, as she understands that settlement is often the best resolution to high-stakes litigation.
Allison is a frequent public speaker on emergent issues in the oil and gas industry and has presented recently at conferences on the topic of West Virginia's new cotenancy law and its practical implications for operators in West Virginia. She is a member of the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association, and the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce.
Allison is originally from Buffalo, NY and moved to West Virginia from Montana in 2005. She graduated with her law degree from the WVU College of Law in 2009 as Order of the Coif, and has been practicing in West Virginia ever since. An avid horsewoman, Allison and her family live on a farm in the central part of the State.
