Nathanial Kuratomi's practice is devoted entirely to litigation, with emphases on police and municipal liability, employment law, deliberate intent, Workers' Compensation and workplace injury law, and premises liability. Mr. Kuratomi defends police officers and municipalities in state and federal civil rights cases. He also represents companies in both civil and administrative proceedings related to various employment-related claims, such as harassment, retaliation, and discrimination, and represents employers in "deliberate intent" actions for excess damages related to alleged workplace injuries and in litigated Workers' Compensation matters.
Mr. Kuratomi received his B.A. in Literature and B.A. in Creative Writing from Marshall University in 2002 and his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in 2006 with a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Advocacy. He was the Paul L. Stevens Memorial Scholarship recipient, was granted the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law, was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, and served as the Managing Editor of the Journal of American Arbitration.
Mr. Kuratomi is admitted to practice in West Virginia, the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. Mr. Kuratomi is a member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, and the Defense Research Institute.
