As a partner at Carey & Stewart, PLLC, P. Zachary Stewart focuses his practice on personal injury and employment litigation. Mr. Stewart regularly represents clients who have been seriously injured in automobile and truck collisions, slip and fall accidents, dog bites, and as well as victims of sexual abuse. He also maintains a strong employment law practice, with particular experience in overtime and wage violations. He has helped secure six- and seven-figure recoveries in class and collective actions against employers who failed to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act, and he represents individual employees in wage theft and retaliation claims. He is committed to helping clients level the playing field against insurance companies, large employers, and institutional defendants.
In addition to his civil litigation practice, Mr. Stewart handles criminal defense matters, including DUI defense, and provides estate planning and probate administration services for individuals and families.
A native of Weirton, West Virginia, Mr. Stewart returned home in 2013 to build a law practice defined by a client-centered approach, zealous advocacy, meticulous attention to detail, and creative legal strategies. After graduating from Weirton Madonna High School (class of 2003), he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as a University Honors Scholar from West Virginia University in 2007 and his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 2010. He began his career in Charleston, West Virginia, working in both state government and private practice before returning to Weirton to open his own firm. In 2023, he joined with attorney James T. Carey to form Carey & Stewart, PLLC.
Recognized for his client advocacy, Mr. Stewart has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and selected to the Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers. He has also been recognized among the Best Attorneys for Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys and holds Avvo’s highest “Superb” rating. He lives in Weirton, West Virginia with his wife and their two young sons.
