Overview
Attorney David Gorwitz advises business clients in all phases of operations from business formation and business planning to succession planning, buy-sell agreements, and mergers and acquisitions.
Dave’s experience includes representing corporations, partnerships, and other business entities of all sizes in a wide range of business transactions. He assists in strategic business planning, contract drafting and negotiations, commercial leasing matters, and buying/selling commercial real estate. Dave serves as outside general counsel to numerous businesses, where he advises on day-to-day business legal matters as well as complex business transactions involving millions of dollars. Dave’s background in mergers and acquisitions is national in scope.
Recognized for his legal knowledge, Dave is included on lists for Best Lawyer® in America in Corporate Compliance Law, was named "Madison Lawyer of the Year" in Corporate Compliance Law in 2023, and he is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation.
Dave's background also includes business ownership of an electronics import/wholesale company and a boat dealership. He served in the banking industry where he held insurance and securities licenses. Dave's experience as a business owner and in banking provide first-hand insight into the needs of his business clients, including necessary legal protections and business regulation compliance.
In addition to his legal practice, Dave is actively involved in the community through his many interests that include sailing competitions, the arts, music, UW Marching Band alumni events, and the Madison Elks Lodge 410.
Dave is available to assist his clients in Murphy Desmond’s Madison office and remotely.
