Deborah A. Stencel - Milwaukee, WI

Deborah is a Wisconsin Native (born to the grandchildren of immigrants who landed in Wisconsin just after statehood) and a Southern Transplant (having spent about 20 years in North Carolina earning her degrees and enjoying proper barbecue). Deborah returned to America's Dairyland in 2010 to practice law, grow vegetables, and to nag her fiancé to clean up after their 2 dogs and 2 cats (all rescues, of course).

Deborah enjoyed a college term in the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War and brief study tour of the institutions of the European Union during law school. Before the law, she was employed as a comedian, an organizational consultant (i.e., closet designer), and freelance author.

Deborah's bachelor degree in political science qualifies her to say "hmm" and "interesting" during presidential debates (NC State, 1997) but her law degree -earned from the University of North Carolina in 2001 - enables her to help and to counsel Wisconsin consumers about their debts, their rights, and their options. She considers it her honor to guide her clients through the legal process to find the results which help them look forward to a better future after debt - be this through Bankruptcy, Chapter 128, or foreclosure defense.

Deborah has received awards for her pro bono work and volunteers her time at Wills for Heroes and the Volunteer Lawyers Project. She also supports the Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation and the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. In her free time, Deborah likes to make clunky, beaded jewelry, rescue dying houseplants, and scour thrift shops for that last original copy of the Declaration of Independence.
