Hired Law firm 2020-2021Beth Froelich was assigned as GAL in a family matter filed by my ex-wife. I found Beth to be completely biased from the start, accepting ridiculous, false allegations as fact without any basis. Despite the matter lasting nearly a year, Beth never once met me in-person and never visited my home, citing COVID as a concern. Instead, she relied solely on one zoom interview and two phone conversations. The allegations made my by my ex resulted in a police and CPS investigation. Both investigations completely and totally cleared me, however, Beth disregarded this, as the findings didn’t fit the narrative she wanted. My attorney reported that Beth was very difficult to deal with, as she would go days and even weeks between her communications. I believe Beth formed an opinion about me based on my profession, and the false allegations of my ex, prior to even talking to me or conducting any sort of true investigation. From that point on, any information Beth received was looked at through a lens of me being a bad person. If the information didn’t fit her narrative, it was ignored. A family is now torn apart because of Beth. I fear the damage done is irreparable.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
