Consulted Attorney 2021-2050Well, it's been 7 months since our father passed away and we have received two communications from Mr Fowler. One: immediately after Dad's death, stating who would be in the will and if we contest it, we would lose money. Two: six months later, a document came that said to "sign this" to get your money. Six weeks later, no answers to emails or messages and I don't believe they ever answer their phone or haven't the dozens of times we have called. Maybe Mr. Fowler is really working for our sister, as she calls the shots with whomever she is with. Perhaps Mr. Fowler should call our bishop and stake president to see if we are worthy of our inheritance, as Ila called our father's bishop, stake president, and even went to church headquarters to challenge our dad's worthiness to work in the temple - years ago, but that is her pattern. To be the one who controls. I guess I am questioning who employed Mr. Fowler. My father and mother or Ila Roper? Because my father told me that it wasn't a lot of money, but we would get it soon after his death. And since I am sharing my portion with the sister who cared for our father for his last year of life, I would like the money before the last year of mine.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
