Would not recommend Nick Jones to anyone. Didn't listen to me when I told him he had a fact in the case wrong, embarrassed himself in front of the judge, and then sulked the rest of the court day. He told me I didn't have to attend a meeting which ended up being mandated and slipped the blame (and cost) onto me. I gave him hundreds of pages in evidence (photos, texts) against my ex, he used almost none of it. Was practically asleep during the proceedings. Did not defend me against my ex's nasty lawyer, and let the court believe whatever was said. Made so many promises he didn't keep. I lost both cases, appeals, mandamus, and thousands upon thousands of dollars. I lost my child to my ex who ran away with her, what should have been an open and shut case, because he didn't put any time or effort into my case. I did better representing myself than I did when he "represented" me. He knew practically nothing about my case when he stepped into court. I'm now a couple years into being alienated and mistreated by my ex who still has our child, and am recovering financially from the bad decision to hire him. Please look elsewhere.

$14,000 is what it cost me to lose custody of my infant breast feeding baby in a domestic violence case. I told Nick Jones and Alyssa Hawkins that the Judge in My Case and My Ex Went To Church Together. Not Only did Nick Jones FAIL to file recusal paperwork, He Filed NO evidence (I have 1000’s of pages) Failed to Call Witnesses. Failed to Prepare My Case At All!!! He did not use copies of police reports or videos given to him, He did Not speak to nor prepare any witness. Said we will win it on appeal. Began my appeal and demanded an additional $2500 up front. Lost appeal Due To Nick Jones Not Building any case for me. Lost custody. Was alienated from my son for 2.5 years AND Still paying the bill on the loan it took for Nick Jones to Screw Myself and My 5 children out of the opportunity to be a family!!!! I have copies of all text messages and emails between myself and Nick Jones where he blames me for his inadequacy as an attorney! DO NOT Use Nick Jones or This Law Firm!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
