I filed my case in 2018 and I hired a legal team (from the Bay Area) to represent me in my Social Security case. I had an excellent case and had several of the automatic qualifiers on the so-called Social Security Blue Book or Black Book or whatever it is called. Anyway, my case was denied and then I had my Legal team do the request for reconsideration which also was denied. After about 2 weeks or no contact from my Legal team, I called them to make sure they were appealing my case and requesting a Hearing. I was told that the Legal team was discussing whether or not my case was good enough to take further. WTF? I fired them on the spot. I then researched Soc Sec Attorneys and came across Roeschke Law Firm and started reading their reviews. I was immediately impressed and put in a call to the firm and I received a prompt reply from Mr. Roeschke himself and had a long discussion about my case with him. He agreed take my case and he and then Mr. Flood handled my case up through my Hearing (teleconference with the Judge) and I won my case. In late 2020, I was informed that I won my case and my Disability was approved all the back to 2014 and I received 42 months of back pay. I couldn’t be happier with how hard Mr. Roeschke and Mr. Flood worked on my case.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
