THE WORST!!!! These individuals are kid through Legal shield and trust me when I tell you they act like it. You call and the receptionist finds out you are a legal shield member you are now treated like you’re begging at the welfare office. The alleged attorney wasn’t prepared for the meeting AT ALL! Literally hadn’t reviewed anything I sent and got in the call and asked me where are we with all this? Huh? Dude you’re the attorney what are you talking about. the attitude to me was that they are doing you a favor by even speaking to you. The attorneys only focus was sending the standard letter you get through legal shield no matter what the heck your situation is. The attorney did not listen and was so rude and disrespectful I wouldn’t use this law firm if it gave free legal protection for ten years straight. Absolutely ignorant and sad!! If someone is calling for help how dare you get on a high horse when you need my money? The consult is normally 45 minutes at least he didn’t want to be in the phone longer then 5 minutes cutting us off, being rude and short as if we were bothering his schedule. I didn’t call legal aid I called a law firm that I thought was respected instead they have a bunch of customer service and great attitudes and service awards mumbo jumbo all Over their site but that isn’t applied in real life. DO NOT HIRE!! You have been warned!

Last year, I was desperately trying to find legal guidance regarding significant damage done to our home in 2023 and continuing into 2024. The statute of limitations was about to expire, and I felt that I was running out of time. I had called everywhere and tried every avenue I could think of before I was finally referred to David Degnan. I am extremely grateful that I found him. I scheduled a free 15-minute consultation with David, but once he understood the extent of the damage and the urgency of the situation, he continued speaking with me for nearly 45 minutes. He was never in a hurry, never made me feel rushed, and did not charge me for the additional time. He listened carefully, treated me with respect, and offered meaningful guidance at a time when I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. Rather than encouraging me to spend money unnecessarily, David gave me practical advice and helped me understand how I could move forward on my own at that stage. He also told me that if I needed him later in the process, he would be happy to represent me. That meant a great deal to me because I felt he was genuinely looking out for my best interests rather than simply trying to obtain a paying client. I ultimately filed the case myself, using much of the advice he generously provided, and the matter is now moving forward. What stood out to me most was not only his knowledge, but also his kindness, patience, and genuine concern. As a senior citizen dealing with a stressful and complicated situation, I felt respected, heard, and valued. David is a caring and compassionate attorney, and I will always appreciate the time, guidance, and reassurance he gave me when I truly needed it.

I'm very glad to share my excellent experience with this law firm. Dave took the time to listen, offer extremely helpful advice and followup with a detailed email. I'm so appreciative of his knowledge and experience in dealing with an unreasonable and discriminatory HOA. He will give you the information and tools you need to find a solution.

I was referred to Degnan Horne by my mortgage lender. I have never had to use a real estate attorney before so I was very nervous. I now know why my lender recommended Degnan Horne. They didn’t an amazing job for my case. I spoke with Dave at my consultation, then was quickly contacted after that by Mark Horne and the very capable team he had put together to aggressively seek a speedy resolution. Mark and team were able to help me achieve my goal of taking ownership of the property. It was an extremely frustrating matter for me to deal with alone. As soon as the Degnan Horne Team got involved results came quickly. While I hope I do not need their services again, I will without hesitation call Degnan Horne for any legal real estate matters in my future, and I strongly suggest you do the same.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
