    Hired Attorney 1997-2003
Dale Harrison, Warning!! can we say horrible lawyer. I needed a lawyer for my husband who was hit by a train. Needless to say. He drag it out put it on the back burner for almost 7 yrs. When it was coming up on the 7 year. He pushed to settle not to go to court. He said even though I would win because there was no signal guard or arm guard nothing on top of the hill with a building blocking the tracks. He urged me to settle he said, I wouldn't win much. I had at the time 3 babies all under the age 9. One child 15. He made out like a bandit made 1 1/2 times more then me. This man never showed up to finalized the deal in court. The Judge found him in contempt of court. Are you ready he forgot not only my husband name he posted the court date on the same day my husband died. The Judge was furious. Now here is the worst blow they made me give them at the beginning all the videos and pictures that I had of my husband for 11yrs we were married. Never got them back. All my daughter's have nothing of him Or dozens of videos all gone. Here we are 20 plus yrs still waiting...... I have asked many times for them. A few few years later they don't know were there at. They have been arhived . Every year new people don't know? We'll get back to you. Really really sad I wouldn't recommend this man if my life depended on it. If this was a no star he would get a negative. I was just a learning and convince to him, because he was able to lock himself into collaborating with another firm who had train wreck and death at a track experience. The things I know now like for instant a friend of mine a lawyer who recommend him was given a ( kick back) but we don't dare say that because that's illegal. So he was given a huge thank you or of my share not Dales. Also a huge misc. That was never broken down huge too. When I asked him he bluntly said to numerous to list. That was not part of the list of calls or paper shuffling that was another charge. I have kept all the paper work to remind me that if he may not pay for it in this life, but in the next life God will ask him so you took advantage of a widow with 4 kids huh?? That will be his judgment day!! I did copy and paste this, so my words don't get twisted. I'm still waiting....

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
