    Hired Law firm 2017-2021
I signed up for a three year program to clear my debt at 1000 dollars per month. When you call them the person who answers the phone is polite but useless. All they told me was what I already knew . This went on for four years and four months. I asked repeating myself over with each call to connect me to the "negator" who was working on my case. Not able to talk to the so called negator, oh the person said they would email them and leave a voice mail for them asking them to get back to me. In over four years I never ever got a return call. I did get one in the start from some lawyer in my state, but this was in the first month. I had more than enough money in my account to pay off my last creditor. Yet all I saw on the web page was not year started to get in contact with the last creditor. after more than 3 years and 9 months. Of course the person who answered the phone on their 800 number did not know any more than I did. I would never use them for anything.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
