Hired Law firm 2021In 2019 we received a credit card bill from Citibank for $18,000. The problem is that we never had a Citibank credit card. This credit card bill was under my husband’s name. This was the first time we received a bill for this credit card from Citibank. We went to Citibank and told them we never opened a Citibank credit card and they told us they would do an investigation. We never heard any results of an investigation from Citibank. All Citibank did was send another credit card bill a few months later for $23,000 this time because of “nonpayment” and “late fees.” Why would we pay for a credit card that wasn’t ours?? We called Citibank back to complain and they were very rude. They said, is it your name and address on the bill? We said yes but we never opened a Citibank card. They said that it was our problem because it came to my husband’s name and address. Citibank then sent the bill to a collections agency and the collections agency started to harass us to pay this bill. We did not pay it of course because we did not open this credit card and we did not have that kind of money. The collections agency then sued us in court for the $23,000. We are immigrants who have worked very hard over 30 years in this country. We are retired and live on social security. We have always paid all of our credit cards on time and in full. My husband is very sick now and did not need this stress. How is it possible for someone to open a credit card under my husband’s name without us knowing and charge so much money and Citibank just doesn’t care at all? Thanks God for Mr. Daniel Keller and Keller Fishback and Jackson because I do not know what we would do without their help. Mr. Daniel Keller was very patient and explained to us what was happening and what his plan was to fight back for us. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We are so grateful to Mr. Daniel Keller and everyone at Keller Fishback and Jackson for fighting for us and proving that this was a case of credit card fraud. They were able to resolve this case in a few months for us. We cannot thank them enough and recommend that if anyone is having the same problem, they should contact Keller Fishback and Jackson for help.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
