Overview
Mark has been a Certified Family Law Specialist since 1987, and has practiced family law in San Jose and Campbell, California since 1979. Mark currently maintains Martindale-Hubbell's prestigious "AV Preeminent" peer review rating.
Born in Gary, Indiana in 1952, Mark graduated from Indiana University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He then went on to attend the University of Santa Clara's law school where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1979. Later that year, Mark was admitted to the California Bar and admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of California. Mark decided to focus his practice on Family Law, and in 1987 he became a Certified Family Law Specialist after being certified by the California Bar's Board of Legal Specialization.
Outside of his law practice, Mark has been very involved in the legal community. He has been an active member of the Santa Clara County Bar, California Bar, and American Bar Associations. He was a teaching assistant and consultant for Santa Clara University School of Law's law clinic legal research and writing department (1979-1980). Mark was the chair of the Santa Clara County Bar Association's Family Law Section, chair of the Santa Clara County Bar's Lawyer Referral Service, and a bar association representative on the Santa Clara County Domestic Violence Council. Mark has also been appointed as a fee arbitrator to settle attorney fee disputes and a special master in various family law cases.
Mark has also been a panelist for numerous family law related continuing education programs for the: Santa Clara County Bar Association; State Bar of California, Family Law Section; University of California, Continuing Education of the Bar; Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County; and the Legal Aid Society of Santa Clara County.
In 2020, Mark, and his son Matt A. Erickson formed a partnership, and are now practicing family law as Erickson Family Law, LLP.
