Attorney Information

Overview

Brian J. Felten is a partner whose practice focuses on personal injury litigation. Brian joined the legal profession after completing a ten-plus-year career in environmental management and consulting where he focused on environmental permitting regarding clean water laws and regulations.

While guiding clients through the complicated world of environmental regulation, Brian developed a superior ability to efficiently deconstruct complex matters, address essential issues, develop comprehensive strategies, and achieve client goals. Brian’s unique set of problem solving skills and client care abilities, coupled with his passion for protecting the public, align perfectly with Coast Law Group’s dedicated practice of representing victims of personal injury and protecting the environment.

Brian received a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from Rutgers University. After developing and honing his professional skills as a consultant, Brian attended California Western School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude. While in law school, he completed three public-interest environmental law internships where he worked to protect the public by holding polluters accountable through civil environmental citizen suits, and monitoring regulatory agency actions, ensuring their actions were in accord with the law.

As an attorney at Coast Law Group, Brian continues his efforts to protect the public by representing clients in personal injury cases, as well as supporting local environmental non-profit organizations’ advocacy efforts.

Brian is licensed to practice law in California and the United States District Court for the Southern and Central Districts of California

Brian grew up on the beach in New Jersey, but made San Diego his home in 2008. Brian is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys surfing, fishing, hiking, and camping. However, first and foremost, Brian enjoys spending time with his two young daughters at the beach, in the mountains, and at the occasional dance recital.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
