Overview
Livia has been an attorney in Coast Law Group’s Environmental and Land Use and Civil Litigation practice groups since 2009. At CLG, she has been involved in numerous high-profile administrative and litigation matters involving local and state government agencies, including the California Coastal Commission, Regional Water Quality Control Board, SANDAG and local municipalities. With matters ranging from protection of local honey bees to Clean Water Act citizen-suit enforcement, Livia has gained extensive experience in local, state and federal environmental laws, including CEQA and NEPA, the Coastal Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Porter-Cologne Act. Livia also serves as legal director to the Coastal Environmental Rights Foundation.
Outside of the environmental arena, Livia has experience in a broad array of legal disciplines, including: general civil litigation; contracts (transactional and litigation); intellectual property; and open government laws.
Livia is licensed to practice law in California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Prior to joining CLG, Livia worked as a staff attorney at the local non-profit San Diego Coastkeeper. Livia originally moved to San Diego to attend the University of California, San Diego, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in biochemistry. For five years Livia worked in San Diego’s biotech industry as a research associate at Illumina before earning her law degree at University of San Diego School of Law.
Livia loves spending time outdoors with her family and their dog Brody. A first generation American, Livia’s personal life includes active participation in local government and social issues. Livia also volunteers as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) with Voices for Children and is a member of the League of Conservation Voters San Diego.
