    Hired Attorney 2023-2025
Wallin and Klarich - A Case of Legal Malpractice and Fraud My experience with Wallin and Klarich has been a complete disappointment marked by negligence, unethical behavior, and fraudulent billing practices. I hired this firm in early 2023, paying a $15,000 flat fee for representation in a post-conviction case. The agreement clearly stated that this payment would cover all necessary legal work to bring my case to trial with no additional charges. What Happened Instead No Progress on My Case – After two years, they failed to secure a single court date or take meaningful action. Ignored Communications – Over 200 emails and calls were left unanswered. Attorney Did Not Show Up to Court – I was left without legal representation and had to hire another attorney in court at the last minute. Withheld My Case File – After formally requesting my legal documents, they refused to return them. Fraudulent Billing – Instead of honoring the original agreement, they produced an unjustified bill for an additional $38,000, despite making no significant progress on my case. The Billing Issues Charges for Internal Discussions – They billed for conversations they had among themselves that had no impact on my case. Multiple Attorneys Charging for the Same Task – I was billed for multiple attorneys reviewing the same documents and emails. Excessive Charges for Document Review – Large fees were charged for reviewing paperwork without any legal filings or court action. Response to Complaints When I demanded an accounting of my funds, they stalled for weeks before providing a questionable billing statement. When I left negative reviews, they attempted to pressure me into removing them by making statements that suggested they might reveal confidential information about my case. Final Thoughts Wallin and Klarich failed to deliver competent legal representation, overbilled for work that was never done, and ignored multiple requests for updates and case documents. I do not recommend this firm to anyone looking for legal assistance. If you are considering hiring them, proceed with caution.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
