Hired Attorney 2024-2025In June of 2024, I visited an NFDA office and met with Donald B. Serafano to discuss a probate that needed to be filed so that my sister, (Norma G. Cruz) would not lose her home. Donald reassured my sister that it would take " 4 or at most 6 months". Donald stated "the case is not complicated". That day, they asked for $4,000 upfront. The attorney took total of $13,500 and this case was not filed. In late January 2025, I demanded a full refund from the NFDA and Donald. Donald wanted to talk on the phone, so I agreed. A phone call was arranged on 2/05/2025 (8 months after he stated he would file and did not. This call was a recorded line) in that conversation, Donald stated that everything would be filed "no later than Friday" (02/07/2025). Once again, Donald lied as nothing was filed. To be clear. For the first time, Donald asked me to sign court paperwork, in the first week of February 2025. This simply means he had never filled paperwork for this case before. This also means he had never worked on this case. An email was sent to Donald request a full refund. Due to Donald NOT filing the probate, my sister is being sued through a judicial court, and now will lose her home. Someone else is helping us with documents for this current probate and the lawsuit. We are also seeking an additional $2,500 as we are seeking help elsewhere. On 2/12/25 Donald was e mailed and mailed a certified letter of this very complaint. Donald refused the certified letter and paid $5.58 for the letter to be returned. Donald feels because someone else (not him or his office) Field the probate, I should not receive a refund. Donald states he doesn't "understand what" I'm "so mad about".

Hired Attorney 2024Honestly. Nice man. But didnt defend me at all..i wish i wouldnhave represented myself Reach out to me, and ill guarantee u that they are crookss.Do not use Reel Fathers Lawyers. The lawyer was a nice person but he did not fight for me.. i told the firm that i was unhappy and that if they wanted to repair our relationship, i would gladly continue to use them. Suffice to say, im looking for another attorney at another firm.. i spoke with a jasmin, verg nice person… based on this statement, they decided to not repair our relationship, this is a fact… if they cared, why wouldnt they try to convince me? They didnt even ask me, what my problem was. They did not even due that.. i wasted like 10k,, and i told them i didnt have much funds… they didnt want to repair or keep me as a client.. let that sink in

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
