Consulted Law firm 2025Rosemary Merrill from Parker Stanbury was rude, nasty, mean and unprofessional. Something isn't right with that lady. She should not be working with the public in any capacity.

Hired Law firm 2024The absolute worst service I have ever received. The lawyer I was assigned to, Rita Nalio at Parker Stanbury, was the worst lawyer I have ever had to deal with. Her incompetence level is through the roof. Aside from being extremely rude and condescending and clearly lazy, she was completely unprepared and clueless of any real estate laws and tenant/landlord rights and I myself had to educate her and send her the city's ordinances. I had to hand-hold her the entire time. Initially she told me one thing about my case and promised to write the landlord a demand letter. Fast forward to many weeks of silence later and a switch flipped. All of a sudden she started arguing with me and defending the landlord who had a more expensive lawyer. And my case was bulletproof with a written statement from the city's Rental Board supporting me. So basically she charged Legal Shield her fee for not doing a single thing, got either bribed or threatened by the landlord's lawyer, and couldn't handle the competition so all her false confidence immediately deflated and she instead started yelling at me for trying to argue my point. Her communication was also atrocious. My emails were left without a response for days and sometimes weeks. Only when I threatened to report her behavior to Legal Shield she finally turned up, but still completely flabbergasted on my case or what was happening. I would send her documents, but she would get lost in her own email software and lose all my emails so I had to send them to her multiple times. The worst lawyer and firm in the country BY FAR. I really have no idea how she passed the bars and got her license and how this firm stays afloat. STAY AWAY!!!!

Hired Law firm 2023I got assigned ROSEMARIE MERRILL to consult, what an absolute joke of an "attorney"... Rude and condescending, not knowledgeable but most of all, she didn't even read documents prior to multiple "consultations". Waste of money, time, energy and most of all, my sanity dealing with this lawyer... Did she really pass the bar?

Consulted Law firm 2000-2020I have had years of amazing service from this wonderful law firm - at a fraction of the price I would have paid elsewhere. They have saved me thousands of dollars - far more than what I paid them. They made a crucial difference in real estate issues, credit issues, disputes and more. Their entertainment lawyers are top rate - including Marcus Bastida who helped me immensely with a documentary film I made, advising me on fair use issues, contracts and more. There other entertainment lawyers are also great. They have referred me to attorneys in other states which helped me with my father's estate. I could go on and on - best investment I ever made. I recommend them to friends, family and other independent film makers!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
