Hired Law firm 2022I was able to get the assistance I needed. Although I was nervous about the process filing. The Smyth Law Firm assisted me with ease through the process. And helped me to feel at ease through this process. I felt at ease knowing they provided to me the tools for credit counseling in the filing for bankruptcy process. I felt this is not the end of the world after all. My attorney at The Smyth Law Firm was both kind and patient. Thank you for all your help and concerns.

Hired Law firm 2017-2022I was in the process of the bank foreclosing on my house. My daughter through a friend recommended Stephen Smyth. After speaking with him I filed Bankruptcy Chapter 13. That day we spoke he was able to put a stop on the foreclosure. After meeting with the Bankruptcy Court he was able to set up a payment plan that worked out great. I had owed over $50,000 in credit card debt also and i could just make the Minimum payment if any. Now I am debt free except for what I owe on my house. I don't know where I be with out Stephen Smyth and his staff help. I can't thank him enough. Any questions I had he answered. I highly recommend him and his firm hey are both professional and highly knowledgeable.

Hired Law firm 2020-2022I was grateful to have met Attorney William Smyth during my first day in court trying to take care of a complicated probate matter. During the court session, I saw Attorney Mr. William Smyth presented his case for his client in an utmost professional, knowledgeable, and confident manner and I immediately knew I have to hire him as my probate attorney. Throughout the entire probate process, Attorney William Smyth and his law firm were very responsive to any of my questions and requests. They were also very responsible in guiding the next step process with clarity and transparency. I would definitely recommend Attorney William Smyth and his law firm to anyone looking for a probate attorney. Lastly, I would like to thank them for their wonderful legal services and say keep up the good work!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
