Hired Attorney 2019-2020This past year and half has been an excruciating and heart breaking time, I lost my job suddenly for what was the biggest shock of my life while I was the only one working. A month later I got the most disturbing letter of an outrageous accusation from my former employer. I was stressed, distressed, to be honest and just plain confused, crying with my wife, trying to make sense of it all. Feeling like I was being extorted and threatened with legal action unless I produce receipts or pay a quarter of a million $($250K). They were looking to destroy my life, my family and my family’s future. We decided to take action before anything had gotten bigger, and a vigorous and wide search started and ended with finding Kraut Law Group. I research and checked all the database of lawyer credentials such as this one to be sure Atty Kraut and his team we're legit, and I then I finally inquired after seeing Atty Kraut's prosecutorial experience in the LA Major fraud division, and Atty Hankoff’s senior defense experience. Believe me, if you have never had to deal with the justice system, you need the best on your side. Boy did I make the best decision possible. Got a call back immediately to get some preliminary information then had an appointment set to discuss in person. Atty Kraut asked me the tough questions and prepared me for a tough fight ahead and gave me the rest assurance after learning of my story. He does not just take anyone on as a client, because of his reputation, he is very selective and my wife and I were glad and grateful when he said “Yes, we can and will help you through this!”. He told what to expect, made sure I was making the right decision, he even asked me and my wife to go to lunch and think of it and make calls as necessary to make the right decision for our lives, because this was a very important one. I come back and we signed the retainer agreement and he immediately contacted them and told them that moving forward they needed to contact him and his office. Which alleviated my stress level. It took a while, since my former employer decided to take their matter to the local police and begin a long investigation, most likely following me around and checking my accounts etc. Then COVID and all this crazy 2020 happened. And then I get a communication from the Sheriff after this whole time that they wanted to speak to me. My stress level as anyone’s would, shot up immediately, my first call was to my Attys. Was again reassured that this was part of the legal/justice system and not to worry, they would find out more details and get back to me. When a date was finally set for the interview/interrogation, my expectations were explained to me and guided me on how it should go and I had a very surprisingly pleasant interview/interrogation with my legal team right there beside me helping me along the way. Again the wait began and I received a letter with a court date since the case was at the District attorneys court, now that the investigation had concluded from the Law enforcement side. This was the climax of my stress levels, imagining all those shows you see on TV. Spoke to the law office immediate and they got a hold of the information right away that it was a premature letter sent, that my case was still in review. I was already preparing for the worst, making plans with my wife and family about a possible long trial and all the grief associated with it. And Atty Hankoff and Atty Kraut did all the communication with the DAs office and Law Enforcement as they always had. Today early in the morning. I get a call from these amazing Attys. Your case has been completely rejected by the DAs office. I am eternally grateful and so is my wife and 4 kids to these Gentlemen. CALL THEM EVEN BEFORE YOU THINK YOU WILL NEED THEM, BEFORE A CASE OR INVESTIGATION. YOU CANNOT PUT A PRICE ON THE BEST TEAM TO GIVE YOU “PEACE OF MIND”. Again a warm thank you to Atty Kraut, Atty Hankoff and the team at Kraut Law Center!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
