I never planned on getting divorced. It came on very quick and was like no other expience in my life. I had an old friend of the family that was retiring from family law and he referred me to Robert. I could not have ended up in better hands. Robert was professional but showed genuine interest and concern for my needs. He always made himself available to speak no matter the time of day which made things much easier as many lawyers make you wait for hours or even sometimes days before responding to you. My case was treated like personal business. My opinions were valued and my doubts were always reassured. At the end of the divorce, which was settled, all parties were happy with the final decisions. I strongly reccomend Robert Goldsmith to anyone needing true professional help in this area of thier life. I give him my highest rating.

Robert is more than an attorney. Better than competent and beyond the advocate he should be. To Robert, one is more than a client. When he takes your case he is your best friend, your most ardent defender, guardian of your reputation. All of these things are true but especially, one expects and receives the justice one expects. I was fortunate to find Robert Goldsmith when I was more in need of attorney services than ever in my long life. I'm thankful every day that I found him. He represented me against a giant bank and because of his hard work and unique abilities I prevailed. (I won't say when because it makes me sound old.) I'll always be grateful. I can heartily and without reservation recommend Robert G. Goldsmith, to anyone in need of the services of an excellent attorney.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
