Verified ClientHired Attorney 2018Mr. Lewis is extremely professional and his knowledge of real estate law is extensive and very deep. He represented me in a situation that had the potential of my losing property that had been owned by my family for almost 50 years to a well known professional adverse possessor. To his credit Mr. Lewis was able to answer this persons lawsuit and counter sue him which coupled with discovery and a deposition turned the situation around placing pressure on the plaintiff. The end result was that I retained my property and the lawsuit was droped by the plantiff with prejudice. Mr. Lewis is extremely good at keeping you in the loop on all issues, always tells you what he can do and what the anticipated cost is going to be so that there are no surprises. He dedicates a lot of time researching complex issues so that he has the answers that will best represent you in your legal matters. Finally I was appreciative of the fact that he works with you; if you have an idea he is willing to consider it and let you know if it has merit or if there are better suited methods to use.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2018After calling about a dozen different attorneys who claim to be elder abuse attorneys, my wife and I hired The Walker Law Firm to handle a tough situation involving financial and emotional elder abuse committed against my elderly mother-in-law. Mr. Walker was the only attorney I called that initially asked all the right questions that none of the other attorneys asked and he determined we definitely had a case. Throughout the process, Stephen Lewis and Joe Walker guided us through the challenges of court delays and various curve balls to bring us to a successful conclusion that included the court finding 100% in our favor and the guilty defendants paying back 100% of the money taken from my mother-in-law, as well as all of the expenses we incurred to fight this battle over a 20 month period. The knowledge, experience, and expertise of The Walker Law Firm was clearly the reason we won and it was worth every penny we spent to bring our case to a successful conclusion. We can't thank Stephen and Joe enough for what they did for us and we're so happy to put all of this behind us with a solid win for the good guys!

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2018Stephen Lewis, ESQ has been my trust attorney for the past several years dealing with an extremely difficult client. I am the trustee and the beneficiary has been very demanding. With Stephen's guidance we have been able to work through some very contentious issues. The Walker Law firm in general has been very helpful with many legal issues that have arisen with this trust. Stephen is quick to respond if a situation develops. I highly recommend him and the firm for any legal issues that may be present. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information. Ray Calabrese, rmcafp@aol.com

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
