I was referred to Lauren's team after speaking with several attornies that told me my divorce and custody case was "too big" for their offices to take on. I was dealing with a move-away situation, false accusations, renigging on agreements, court orders not being followed, not even being able to get ahold of the other party most times... it was an absolute stressful mess. From day one Lauren's team swarmed onto my case. They knew everything end to end about the different complexities of my situation. They knew all the family law judges in Sacramento County and exactly what to expect every time we went to court. They were extremely hard working, making sure to always go into court prepared, and their responsiveness to all of my questions and concerns was unbelievable. They also tried to save me money any way they could, and worked with me wherever they could financially trying to cover the cost of the case. There were so many times with the onslaught of these claims and accusations that I wanted to give up, I just couldn't handle the stress of nearly four years of it. But Lauren convinced me that I had a good case. I was a good father. Being with me is what was best for the kids. And things would only get worse if the situation was left unaddressed. And it ultimately paid off. Not only am I happy with the outcome, and my children were happy to finally be reunited with their older brother, and our new life we were able to build together without the stress of this situation looming over our heads. Most importantly, I got myself back. I'd gotten to the point where I was questioning whether or not I knew what was best for my own kids, whether or not I deserved what I thought was fair. But after all the times Lauren told me "Don't give up, we can do this." - it finally stuck in my head. Best money I've ever spent. And knowing she's got my back from now until my kids are adults has let me finally relax and just focus on being a dad. This divorce and custody battle, now several years resolved, still stands as the hardest thing I ever went through. I still look back on the day that Lauren took my case as the day I started to get my life back. And now my kids and I are doing better than I'd ever expected. She is the best lawyer to have in your corner. Period.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
