Overview

Scott J. Judson is the Managing Attorney of the Sacramento office of Bold, Polisner, Maddow, Nelson & Judson, A Professional Corporation. He received Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science with High Honors and Communication with Honors from the University of California, Davis in 2009. This work built upon the experience Scott gained as an associate attorney at a boutique litigation firm in Sacramento, California, where he worked under an esteemed trial attorney specializing in complex business and trust litigation, and corporate, partnership, and LLC disputes.

Scott remains extremely active in his beloved alma mater by serving as the President of the UC Davis Cal Aggie Alumni Association Board of Directors and as a Public Address Announcer for various UC Davis Athletics events. In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, their daughter, Sydney, and their son, Tanner. He also enjoys anything and everything sports, particularly the San Jose Sharks, UC Davis Aggies, San Francisco Giants, and San Francisco 49ers, wine tasting, golfing and barbecuing on his beloved Traeger.

As a Real Estate Professional, I enjoyed working with Scott. Scott is an excellent attorney. I have closed two transactions with him in the last eight months. At first, my client hired another lawyer for the probate listing. However, after two months, there was no progress and the lawyer they hired was no longer responding to our emails on time. My client decided to find another attorney. That's when we met Scott. He took our file and handled everything in cooperation. Because of his professionalism, I immediately contacted Scott on my second probate listing as well. I knew he would delicately take care of things as soon as possible. Our second sale loan entered into pre-foreclosure. We had a limited time to turn the house around, sell, and save our client’s substantial amount of money. Scott worked really hard and played a very big role in closing this sale without hiccups. Unlike other lawyers, he responds to our emergent emails in a timely manner; it doesn't matter if its at night or on the weekend. He is an excellent team player. I will not send any other probate sales to anyone else but Scott. By working with him, I know that he will take care of everything and give the best service to my clients.

Scott prepared a trust for my wife and myself. Very knowledgeable and gave us an excellent overview of how a trust operates and the benefits you receive by having one. And Scott was able to explain the entire process in a manner that was easy for my wife and I to understand. We would have no problem working with Scott again and highly recommend him!

Scott Judson represented me in a family dispute following the sudden death of a family member, and I am very happy with his services. From the beginning of my case through its resolution, I was impressed by his substantive knowledge of the law and process, as well as his "human" skills. (Emotions can run high in family disputes, and Scott has a keen understanding of this.) Scott treated me with respect, empathy and understanding during this very difficult time, and he guided my case expertly to a satisfactory conclusion. I especially appreciate Scott's ability to communicate openly and honestly, even when relaying hard truths that I did not particularly want to hear. I put my trust in him, and he did not fail me. An ordinary attorney could be forgiven for missteps when trying to balance hard skills with soft skills, empathy with hard truths, client desires with practical guidance -- but Scott is no ordinary attorney! I strongly recommend Scott and his firm to anyone who is searching for a trustworthy attorney having knowledge and expertise in both litigation and estates/trusts.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
