Hired Attorney 2022In September 2022, my son got suspended from school for something he did not do. A substitute teacher misheard a video game talk and reported my son for terrorist threats. The school also threatened my son with being expelled from the district. My son has always had good grades. He has never been in trouble or has ever gotten into fights. Chris was recommended to me by a neighbor who works at my son's school. She was aware of the schools acting wrongfully toward students. I called him late on a weekday, and he reached out by 7 pm that same day and stayed on the phone with us for an hour. Chris gave us the proper advice and a step-by-step process for proceeding with this incident. Chris has so much knowledge of how the school system works. He explained and educated us on how school suspensions and expulsion work. When my husband and I met with the school dean, we felt secure and confident that we would win our case, and sure enough, we won the case the first time we met with the district Dean and administration. I highly recommend Chris; he is sincere, passionate, and a true advocate for children.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
