As a professional who has never even had a parking ticket, imagine my confusion, fear, and frustration when I was falsely accused of a crime I did not commit. I initially retained another attorney, but found him to be cold and uncaring. I clicked with Anna immediately during our first phone conversation, and found everyone at her office to be detail oriented, compassionate, and most of all, ethical. She helped me navigate a process that is often murky and scary. I had a very complicated case and her staff was able to coordinate with my other attorneys. I'm happy to say that after many months, my case was finally dismissed. Anna (and her associate Eve) went above and beyond what I could have expected, and I would give her 10 stars if I could. She has my utmost gratitude and unreserved recommendation.

In June of 2023 I made arguably the biggest mistake of my life, I received a DUI while visiting in the San Diego area. I was extremely embarrassed so I couldn't just ask friends or family if they knew of a good lawyer. So I researched and saw multiple, very good reviews for the Law Offices of Anna R. Yum. So I called them, right away, they (Jorge Cabrera) made me feel at ease regarding my mistake and they walked me thru the entire process from beginning to end. The first point of business was to assure that I kept my drivers license, you have 10 days to do so. My Lawyer, Lauren Hofflin was excellent in her communications and kept me up to date of all court proceedings. I never had to go to court it was all handled by Lauren. I had a very high blood alcohol level at time of arrest, however Lauren was able to get it sentenced at lower level so the penalties were lower. From the start of the process to the end it was a very positive. From Anna her self to all of her employees nothing but sheer professionalism. I highly recommend the Law Offices of Anna R. Yum.

I had a life-saving experience thanks to Anna R. Yum and her team, who worked very diligently to assist me and my family. Since she can speak Korean, it really made things easier for my family to work through the process together. Considering all circumstances, we got the best possible outcome for the case. She and her team provided exceptional legal support and used a personalized approach that was comforting and reassuring. We appreciate you so much, Anna!

Anna is the best Criminal defense law attorney I have ever worked with. From our first meeting, she explained everything to me in terms I could easily understand and was always very responsive when I had questions outside of our meetings.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
