Firm Information

Overview

The Law Firm of Family Law Firm of K. Perez was founded in 2018. After working in two family law firms, I decided to take a chance and founded a firm that represented my beliefs about the practice of law.

Justice. Integrity. Honesty. Hard Work. Open Communication, Clarity and Trust.

In addition to Family Law matters, we are now representing clients in Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts, Durable Power of Attorney, Advanced Health Care Directive, HIPAA Authorization & Waiver) and Probate Matters (Guardianships, Conservatorships, Trust Administration).

We also provide pro-bono and low bono services through San Diego's nonprofit agencies.

Here we are two years later, welcoming new clients, working hard for our current clients, and staying in touch with past clients.

    Recommends this Law firm
I cannot say enough about the compassion and professionalism Attorney Perez showed throughout my case. From our first meeting, she took the time to truly understand what I was going through. She explained every step clearly, advocated fiercely on my behalf, and made me feel seen and heard. Her empathy didn’t just make me more confident in the legal process—it made the entire experience far less stressful. I am deeply grateful for her guidance and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking an attorney who truly cares.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
