Hired Attorney 2017I don't know who the heck Chapman is nor his beef with Torres but I HAVE worked with Francisco Torres and he was very professional. He was very communicative with me and I knew where we were in the process at all times. He didn't overcharge and when my company switched law firms and I could no longer use Torres, our fees went up substantially for the same work. For the record, I was a property manager and Torres represented our company as we applied pressure against a resident that refused to quit smoking in the non-smoking residential building. As our eviction suit was designed to scare into compliance rather than evict, it was important to work with an attorney that coordinated closely with us. Torres was exceptional.

Consulted Attorney 2019I have never been a client of Mr. Torres. I have however audited his work. Based upon my experience 26 years in the legal profession it is imperative that the public know that Mr. Torres is what we refer to as a "scumbag" attorney. He will take advantage of the most helpless of individuals using deceitful and unethical acts. His paperwork is some of the worst that I have ever audited. The man is dishonest and knows it. When confronted he will hide like a coward to avoid having to do the right thing. A number of complaints are in the process of being filed with various government agencies. it is my opinion that in a matter of a few months he will be brought before the Cal Bar on a referral to revoke his license to practice law. My words are true you can trust them....if you are a client check your billing statements line by line....if you are considering hiring Mr. Torres well for your own sake you should reconsider. It was sheer inadvertence which led me to Mr. Torres and its his dishonesty that keeps me around waiting for accountability to find him...thank you for taking the time to read this honest review. N. How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
