San Francisco Employment Law - Employers Law Firm
Overview
Arena Hoffman LLP is a boutique law firm in San Francisco specializing in employment litigation and counseling services for employers of all sizes, ranging from large public companies to family business to non-profit organizations.
Our firm was founded by former big firm partners to provide a more responsive, carefully managed, and cost-effective alternative to the large-firm model.
Our approach is straightforward: confront the primary issues in the matter without delay, explore all creative and practical options, provide the client with a candid assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each course, and collaborate with the client to develop and implement a strategy for the best outcome.
Our substantial expertise covers the spectrum of labor and employment law, such as discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wages and other compensation, employee benefits, trade secrets, and unfair competition matters. We have represented employers before state and federal trial courts and appellate courts, government agencies, and arbitral forums throughout California and other states. We also regularly counsel and guide our clients through a number of workplace problems, including terminations, layoffs, employment policies and procedures, protected leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, contracts, benefits, harassment investigations, dispute resolution, workplace training, and litigation prevention.
We look forward to tailoring our approach to the unique needs of your business.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
