Attorney Information

Overview

I've been a construction and construction defect litigator since 2015. My practice has evolved over time into three main areas: (1) construction/defect disputes for contractors and homeowners, plaintiffs and defendants; (2) easements, boundary lines, and trespasses (water, trees, fences, etc.); (3) Common HOA disputes for homeowners. My clients usually have disputes in the $150K to $1M+ range, and come from all walks of life and ethnicities. My clients that aren't contractors usually work in tech or are retired, and they don't have bottomless war chests to pay for litigation. I do litigate cases to trial or arbitration, but I'd say that's maybe 1% of cases. Most cases resolve without trial, usually by settlement, but sometimes by default or bankruptcy. I do my best to take a straight and cost-effective path to resolution, without unnecessary detours. When at all possible, to save them money, I put my clients to work on tasks they're comfortable with, including proofing, document organizing, and document review.

If you want to know the personal stuff, before law school I worked in commercial real estate as a developer and asset manager on the east coast (where I'm originally from). After the 2009 financial crash, I worked on my own real estate and construction projects. Working closely with lawyers on my own projects, I noticed that they always made money, whether I did or not. Their ability to tell me what I could and couldn't do intrigued me, and I resolved to learn their powers for myself. I had always loved California, so I used law school as an excuse to move west. I love it out here. I'm a huge nerd. As for pets, I'm a cat dad.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
