5.0 out of 5 stars

Emily is an amazing criminal law attorney. Her ability to make you feel comfortable with her and believe she is going to fight for you is relieving. Emily was honest throughout the process. She does her homework by the law. Everyone seems to think the accusers are right until a great lawyer like Emily questions them.

When our family was going through a difficult unimaginable time we were blessed with Emily. These false felony charges had turned our lives upside down. She was able to give us hope in time of need. Emily is very intelligent and she does her homework. Her knowledge of the law kept her honest with us from the beginning on how these could turn out either way. We trusted in her to do her job and make changes as she saw necessary. Emily is definitely a professional expert. Having her believe in us during this emotional and stressful time gave us the faith things would all work out. She is the most dedicated, hard working woman I have ever met. Because of this Emily is excellent at what she does. She keeps her composure (which was a reminder to us) while effectively communicating to everyone involved from the judge, DA, witness, officers and family. Her opening and closing were detail oriented which gave the whole picture of the truth. Proverbs 18:17 “The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.” We are forever indebted to Emily for freeing us of this. We are grateful for everything she did. I can’t thank her enough and I whole heartily recommend her. Emily is the best.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
